Today is World Teachers’ Day, so I’d like to give a special shout-out to Margaret “Señorita” Azevedo, who was my high school Spanish teacher for three years. The way she explained grammar made it FUN and easy to understand, and that foundation helped me with English grammar as well. The señorita also taught us how to analyze literature in Spanish, which again helped me with my English-language assignments. Those skills led me to double-major in Spanish and English, spend one year living in Spain and another living in Argentina, and eventually pursue a career as a novelist. I will forever be grateful to her for the positive impact she had on my life! (I admire her so much that I even mentioned her in one of my novels, Cassidy Lane.)
