Perfect on Paper reaches #2 on Amazon!

Posted by Maria Murnane | November 14, 2011

The past week has been quite a whirlwind for me and my alter ego, Waverly Bryson. Last Sunday, the U.S. Kindle version of Perfect on Paper reached #2 on Amazon’s list of top sellers — out of more than 1,200,000 books available. Wow!

One notch above Steve Jobs- amazing!

It was truly unbelievable to see that on my computer screen. My mom told me she cried. Then I nearly cried.

A couple days later It’s a Waverly Life launched here and in the UK, and while sales here were better than I’d hoped for, it took OFF across the pond. On the Kindle it reached #2 out of more than 750,000 titles! Perfect on Paper also cracked the top 10, and both books were #1 in several fiction categories.

Flowers from my awesome publishing team!

Needless to say, it has been an amazing week, and I’m so excited to see what happens next!  Maybe all this hard work is finally paying off.

Go Waverly!! :)

  • Wow, Maria. It sounds like you have a very professional outlook on your work. Congratulations on your success, and thanks for sharing tips with other Create Space authors.

  • Maria, you rock. The publishing biz is so difficult and you seem to have conquered it. How inspiring for the rest of us authors.

    Best,

    Chris

  • Wow, congrats Maria! Sounds like you’re another John Locke wonder! I bet you sell more than one million books in 5 months now that you’ve got several up there on the digital shelves!

I enjoyed your marketing advice in the Amazon author pages and navigated to you here. Awesome! And you’re so right, one needs to think of one’s audience first and foremost! My trilogy Fear of the Past is now (finally) out, all three books with a growling lion on the cover are up there…And of course, I imagine my primary audience to be a young man looking for himself. In the books he goes to Sicily looking for his family roots and falls in a Time Trap: soon he’s in love with an 18th century beauty – how can he take her back to his time and – deeper question – should he even try?

So far I’ve done all my marketing wrong (the little I had time for because I wrote all 3 books over the past 8 months). I wanted to thank you for your excellent advice because now I think (I hope) I might see my way out of this marketing conundrum…
